Future build and fail shoot

So i set up my tripod and tried to take pictures of my n7 cosplay but sadly most of them turned out weird since i was using flash and not the default light i had set up..sadly i saw that only at the end when i took the armor off and uploaded the photos on my pc.

Im experimenting with different vents and visor, this one was plastic and i can hardly see trough it so its a bother. Im going to find some mirror/glass sheet to put on it next.
added the black background since it looked more BA rather than white

im going shopping this week for led lights and similar for my future projects..Also more EVA, if they still have it..

For the future i plan on making n7 eagle pistol

and valiant sniper rifle

also possibly, instead of it the typhoon. I havent decided yet.

Eva m8 rifle FINISHED

So i finally finished the rifle and did a little photoshoot of it . ^^ Im quite happy with how it turned out, even though it gave me quite a headache at some points. Now i have a rifle to go wtih my armor..

Eva m8 rifle progress day 6 (paint)

So i finally got to my favorite part of painting my rifle.

So.Tools. 1. Acrylic paint of course, ive been using this for most of the weathering, mixing cyan white and silver for  the metal, and black for the damage, red and white for the letters. 2. brushes of course, various sizes. 3. silver sharpie for scrach detail, white sharpie which came in handy for the small letters. 4. crappy stencil i did. If you have a laser cutter near by i suggest making stencils for this since my handywork on the small lettesr was quite..handy. 5. A lot of paper towels. for cleaning your hands of course, and for smudging the paint over the surface to give it that metal look. 6. A surface for the paint. A tip, put celophane wrap over the surface so the paint doesnt stain your palette. And its easily replaced and removed.

Started off with the base color, silver  cyan and white mixed together then brushed all over the parts of the rifle that were supposed to be light.

Did the same with the other side and put a bit of dry rushing on the gun chamber

Now i started adding details on the black bits, using a silver sharpie, to simulate  chipped black paint and a metal 'underneath' on the front of the rifle

Did the same with the  stock, adding a bit of chipped parts to the edges.

started adding highlights and details around  the bolts, dents and similar

at the end i used black paint to simulate tear and smudge in the gaps of the plates, also near the gun barrels to  simulate overheating, also added decals and wordings, using white paint and  a white sharpie for the little letters. For the m8 i used stencil but it didnt wokr out that well ..

Eva m8 rifle progress day 5 (paint)

so i've brought it down to the basement this morning, now that the PVA glue was completely dry and started with the base coat..

Im using black matte acrylic spray paint for this, it will be the base color, over which i will weather and paint in the silver parts.

A tip i can offer when your foam isnt black or gray in base, use your camera with flash to spot the  areas you didnt spay well , since my light isnt very good this came in handy.

now im waiting for the base coat to dry to do it again and the parts i have missed in my first hand...

Eva m8 rifle progress day 4

Resumed progress on my rifle late in the evening (im a night owl what can i say) After a lot of fiddling and correcting, i finally maanged to finish it..

Ill be sealing the foam (since it tends to absorb acrylic paint) with white glue, diluted in water, aproximately 1/2 water and white glue. I dont know the exact formula since i tend to vary it a lot..

Ill be doing about 3 coats with this

Now just waiting for it to dry to do it over again..I let it dry aprox an hour or so till its not sticky anymore to touch ;s

Eva m8 rifle progress (day 1, 2 and 3)

Fairly new to this..now just to figure out how all of this works...

So after finishing my Shepard costume (sadly i dont have a progress build) I've been thinking of working a rifle to go with it.Ill be using the same material as ive used for my costume and that is Eva foam which you can get from any better supplied material shop i guess? In my country its QUITE hard to find, and the only ones that i could find were the puzzle/textured mats in different colors, only in one thickness (10mm) so ill be using that durring the entire build, and adding detail by sanding those parts.

For those who dont know how this material looks (though im pretty sure most of you do) it comes in squares with one textured side and other smooth.

Ive been using this as reference as its the best looking m8 rifle ive seen so far, also of course with the help of my mini m8 rifle i have with my Shepard action figure.

Progress build of my m8 rifle

Drew out the template on some spare paper i had from projects, also doodled schematics and how parts would fit..Along with my mini rifle for help ;3

my eva foam is a bit smaller than the regular size, so only the base fit..Also i think i  may have made it slightly bigger than it should be, but what can i say..I love big guns.

Rough shape cut out, 3 for the middle, 2 for the details, middle for the trigger

Inserted some plastic strips to give the rifle some grip also to hold the metal and plastic pipe in place.

Rough shape of the base of the rifle
 After a bit of sanding

Fiddled with details with my soldering iron and put addons i had laying around

Deciding on the shape of the openings, went with the first one

added some wire mesh to give the vents more realism
added a strip to the metal pipe where the bottom part of the rifle would stick

Almost done, few more details remaining
